Employee representatives of Muscatine Power and Water presented a check for $500 to the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine to benefit their Emergency Response Fund which was established in the aftermath of the March 6th tornado.

“Our employees routinely raise funds for charity through our bi-weekly “Jeans Days”,” said Erika Cox, Employee and Customer Relations Director, “but this cause garnered nearly triple the donations of an average event!”
The MP&W Employee Activity Committee, which chooses the beneficiary, quickly changed gears when the tornado struck and they are challenging other employee organizations and individuals in Muscatine to hold their own fundraisers and contribute as well.
All donations to the Emergency Response Fund will be used only for Muscatine County disaster relief. The fund is intended to provide grants to nonprofit organizations serving those affected by the disaster. Those nonprofits directly affected by the tornado may also apply.
To contribute, donors can make a tax-deductible contribution by mailing a check to the Community Foundation at 208 West Second Street, Suite 213, Muscatine. Please make checks payable to the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine with Emergency Response Fund in the memo. Credit card donations are accepted by phone or on our website. Nonprofit organizations wishing to apply for a grant may do so using the application on the website as well.
